People see what they want to see and believe what they want to believe.  When someone tells you about something, that new knowledge enters your mind.  If you agree with it, you have a hard time ignoring that new knowledge. It’s a part of your thoughts now. 

Look closely at the painting.  It’s not a painting of a winged creature or something… it’s a painting of a skull.
