After calming down, I realized that my eyes started to become accustomed to the dark. This was probably the Artifact trying to protect me again. No sense walking blindly around the dark. Guess it thought that I needed to see. I tried communicating with it again, but no answer.

Suddenly, I heard some shuffling sounds from a nearby cavern. As I hid, I saw a large spider-like creature enter the cave. I had never had a love for spiders and this one was definitely terrifying. From its chest, something oozed onto the cave floor and started to squirm around. The ooze started working its way to various holes in the floor, filling them up, and then disappeared. Such a strange creature! It seems that the ooze was repairing the cave floor.

Something in my head told me that I could communicate with it but I decided not to. I didn’t care what it knew. I just knew that I didn’t like spiders and I was not going to approach this one.

Once the creature left, I realized that I had to get out of here. I had no idea where I was but I did know one thing … I wanted to get as far away as I could. I wondered if this was now my life. Running away. Far cry from when I was a kid in Greywell and thought that I was tough. Guess life has a way of showing you who you really are.
