Being hurt or taken advantage of by someone else can hurt. After the first time that it happens, we’re wary to trust them every again. Sometimes, that mistrust is warranted. Sometimes, not. It changes us and how we see others. Even those who had nothing to do with the situation. Over time, the hurt may go away but the trust is still broken. The trick becomes in not generalizing the mistrust and think that everyone else will do the same thing to you.
